Medicaid/Medical Assistance and Medicare Planning

Pittsburgh Medicaid Planning Attorney

Obtaining Medicaid eligibility can seem like a confusing and daunting task for adult children and spouses. Medicaid is a need-based program administered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, using funding from the federal government and Pennsylvania. Medicaid is subject to changes in the law by Congress -- such a change was enacted with the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005.

Are you under the impression that you will need to spend down all of your assets in order to become eligible for Medicaid? Did you know it is possible to prepare a plan that suits you and your family members -- a plan that allows you to maintain financial well-being and still become eligible for Medicaid? If you are interested in learning more about Medicaid planning and eligibility, consider a lawyer from Sikov and Love, P.A. We have the resources to successfully help you or a family member obtain Medical Assistance.

How the Deficit Reduction Act Affects You

President Bush signed the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 in an effort to "slow the pace of spending growth in both Medicare and Medicaid." The signing of the Act has resulted in complications to obtaining Medicaid and Medicare coverage. Among these changes are new restrictions on transferring assets to qualify for Medicaid long term care and nursing home care. In March of 2006, attorney Carol Sikov Gross was one of the first attorneys to recognize the consequences of these new laws. In addition to helping clients understand these consequences, she has lectured and taught seminars to her fellow attorneys about these new laws.
